Gasoline and a match. Then let it burn itself out. That creates a natural creosote coating with a slight charcoal mix. Not real popular with the neighbors and not a good idea in general but I thought it might at least ammuse you.
Otherwise just go the easy route and use thompsons or cwf clear seal and spray it on with a standard garden hand pump sprayer.

Wood sealant works best and make sure to rent a post driver they are worth it. The post driver or auger digs a hole deep enough ( at least two feet) for the fence posts to make sure your fence is strong enough and protected from the wind element so your fence doesn't blow down in storms. Make sure the wood posts are treated so they dont rot in the dirt and you'll need to reseal the fence every so often.... just check the directions. Good luck. Polymers sound fine, not sure you need the linseed as a medium.

Upkeep is the best protection. No matter what you use, just look forward to re-coating every 1-5 years. The more often you can, the better.
