The intent of the Interstate highway system was to connect the coasts of the United States in case the roads were needed militarily or for emergencies. You will note that all even numbered interstate routes go East and West while all odd numbered routes travel North and South Also, the three- numbered routes are found near cities. if the beginning number is odd, it should connect to the interstate route of the last two digits and if the first number is even it is a circular route around a city that connects with the interstate route of the latter two digits. For instance interstate 295 will circle the city and connect with I95. To answer your question any even numbered interstate route should take you cross country from East to West or vice versa, i.e., if there is no road construction, bridges out, or other highway repair going on.

Several highways connect the two coasts. In Washington we have I-90, which is part of the same I-90 on the east coast. I-66 (the old Highway 66) is another. Generally, if it has one digit or three digits it goes N-S, if it has two digits it goes E-W and goes from coast to coast.

several, just look at a road atlas. even numbered interstate highways go east to west. odd numbered interstates highways no north to south

for east to west, the numbers increase as you go north.
so I-10 goes across the southern part of US, while I-80 goes across the northern part, and you have others in between
