I might get a 6 year old Fox Trotter. I was taught English and hate western (No offense toward western riders) I fell in love with this sweet chestnut, but can he do English? HELP!

I have a big palomino MFT gelding that I hunter pace.
He's as game as any Thoroughbred and fun to ride too!

Of course you can. Good riding is good riding no matter what the discipline is called. All riding has a basis in communication between the horse and the rider. A steady hand, clear aids and your horse will be happy no matter if you are wearing a cowboy hat or are sitting in a dressage saddle.

You can ride with any tack you like. Fox trotters, being gaited may make posting difficult, the reason for fox trotting is a smooth ride for you. Jumping may be impossible for the same gaited reason.
Had a single foot gaited horse once, jumping wasn't possible because of his way of going.

Yes,All horses can do western or English it doesn't matter what you choose to do. Just different horses are better at different things. I am going to do western and English with my paint mare.

Did you know that MFT are shown in English Bridles and Western saddles? If that is not versatile , I don't know what is. lol!

YES I USED TO HAVE A MISSOURI FOX TROTTER AND I RODE SADDLESEAT! ITS JUST A SADDLE YOU RIDE ANYTHING ANYWAY YOU WANT!
