The answer is 1/2.

How to get to it:
1) Distribute 6 across (f+2)
2) Subtract 12 from both sides
3) Add like terms 6f-2f
4) Divide both sides by 4

2007-12-21 14:58:54 · answer #2 · answered by tiger12506 2 · 0 0

14 = 6(f + 2) - 2f
14 = 6f + 12 - 2f
14 = 6f - 2f + 12
14 = 2f +12
2f = 14 - 12
2f = 2
2f/2 = 2/2
f = 1

14=6(f+2)-2f
14=6f + 12 - 2f
14=4f + 12
14-12=4f + 12-12
2=4f
2/4 = 4/4 f
1/2 = f
