I downloaded a small file, immediately after downloading it I scanned it with AVG which reported that it was a trojan. I then manually deleted the file that i had downloaded and scanned my entire system twice using AVG, each time it told me that there were no threats found. Have I followed the right step to get rid of the trojan or should I do something more?

Ya did good to check the file before you installed it on your computer. You took the to check your system and followed the correct procedures. Keep up the good work, hope other people can learn from your experience.

You have followed the right steps to remove a virus. Recommend that you reboot after the virus has been deleted.
