People are only making a huge deal about Jamie Spears because she's famous. Teenage pregnancy HAS been an issue, even before this whole thing happened. It's sad that people are just now becoming more aware of the situation because a teen celebrity is pregnant.

However, she is owning up to her responsibilities. This isn't the case for all teenagers but some do accept the responsibilities and learn to deal with the hand they've been dealt. It's not what WE are teaching them, it's what society as a whole is teaching them. It's saying it is okay to have sex as long as you are on some form of birth control. Unfortunately birth control ISN'T 100% effective so you wind up with teengers that get pregnant and are not ready to deal with the consequences.

Actually I read somewhere that teen pregnancy is down. But when your in the spot light and pregnant that young, thats not very good. We are allowing the wrong messages to be sent to our children. I was pregnant at 14 & delivered 3 months after turning 15 and I can tell you, it was difficult. Luckly, I have a smart, handsome loving 22 year old son now (and 3 more sons). I would not trade him for the world but it was hard and I am lucky I had the support system I had at home.

ARe you serious? Teen pregnancy has been around for so long, it is NOTHING NEW! You're just noticing it now because of Jamie Lynn SPears. If it weren't for all that publicity then you probably wouldn't even notice. And most of those "I'm 15 and think I'm pregnant" are normally B.S to piss people off. There is no new thing, ONE teen celebrity is pregnant.

Ever take U.S. heritage or any heritage type for that rely? youthful/teenager being pregnant has continually been a controversy and continually would be. What the teen ladies/boys do with themselves and their our bodies is their duty and not yours. I had my first newborn at thirteen. i'm now 21 and a single mom with 3 little ones. No, i do no longer get carry of government "help." whether I did which would be my organization, no longer yours. I truthfully have lived by myself for the reason that i became into 15- basically me and my toddlers. I now own my own residence- properly the loan organization does for now yet you get the factor. I graduated HS with extreme honors, I controlled to pass a grade in center college and graduate a year early. I truthfully have 2 bachelors levels that I gained extreme honors for. i became right into a foster youngster so I have no father and mom to pawn my little ones off. they're continually with me or in the daycare that *I* pay for. i'm happy with my existence and does no longer substitute something approximately it. My little ones are extra desirable than satisfied additionally- my oldest is a straight away A scholar whom loves college, his pals, his mommy & siblings. So do I fit decrease than your function as you stated "some have instructed me, that those ladies don't have and practise and sense that having young ones is a great accomplishment." No, i do no longer!

Yes I agree- and a more stupid thing I've ever seen. They don't even have an education to be able to support these children. I see welfare babies. The best thing we should do is stop welfare.

And mjal is wrong- pregnancy rates increased in 2006 the first increase in 17 years. Having a baby is romantic to these teens. They are not ready for the hard work involved.

teen pregnancy is not a new thing. Its happened a lot in history and used to be the norm. If you look at the animal kingdom once an animal reaches sexual maturity it leaves its parents and starts its own life. In some species, like the lion, the children may be attacked by the parents if they don't leave on their own.

Plus, sexual maturity comes before the brain's full decision making ability has a chance to develop. Its like trying to hold a crowd of anxious christmas shoppers back with two security guards.

I do. It is not the new "rave" though. The rave is sex. Its extremly sad to say that teens are not knowlegable enough about this. I feel high schools as well as colleges (and MIDDLE!) are Not doing enough. The parents of todays teens are not telling the Birds and bees. Its going down hill and it will be worse years to come. Sex is not a bad thing, they just need the knowlege of and access (so not to be emabrrised - condoms require 18 years of age in NC!!How can younger teens buy them for protection!!

To the girl who said "welfare babies"
Just because your young doesnt mean your going to get on welfare. I am 19 and just became pregnant and i am not going to get on welfare . I work two jobs and have a good boyfriend who also has a good job.Im sure alot of teens who get pregnant do not get on welfare either or plan it for that matter. So for you to say that about people you dont even know is pretty rude and insulting.if teens think they are ready more power to then as long as you know you can support that baby your bringing into this world.

Obviously...girls these days are growing up way to fast...i thought it was bad when i was a teen ...which wasnt that long ago at all...its like 100 times worse now...it seems like girls cant wait for anything...they wanna grow up so fast...im early 20's and i already wish i was a kid again...LOL i never had the problem of wanting to grow up to fast...but i dont think its right to blame everyone around them...they arent that stupid you should know better by 14...i didnt think of sex till i was like 20...LOL and i def had some scum bag people around me...so i dont know why people continue to blame parents or other teens around them...everyone has a mind of their own and they use it...and thats how they end up pregnant.
