i received the dell 1721 today ( i haven't opened it yet or broke the seal) and we went to best buy to see the size of it and it was huge so i want to return it. if i return it will i get all of the money back and is there a possibility that it will be lost or stolen?

Yes, it's 17" screen is huge, but that's why it is so wonderful. (but awful to carry around).
If Dell helped you pick out the laptop over the phone, give them a call and tell them you need to return it since it is the wrong computer for you.
Dell is usually very good about returns. Ask them your questions about costs. Send it insured with tracking numbers.

You might be able to get a refund.
I'm not totally sure about the possibility of the laptop being lost or stolen.
