A brass bedstead 26yrs old, has developed "freckles" after 12 months living by the sea, how can I fix this?

Are you sure it is brass or is it plated? If it is plated, it could be from rust and probably won't clean up very well.

A good brass polish to clean up the spots, followed up by a clear lacquer coating for future protection, should do the trick.
