my idea of a silent night is when i have inner peace and stand in a quiet spot in the dark and look up at the stars and close my eyes and remember the good memories that have made my life that is my silent night xxx

I think it means when you are at peace within yourself. Night seems to be the time that i reflect inwardly, and my mind goes crazy with questions and thoughts and ideas. I think the beautiful "silent night" you refer to would be, for me, a night when i am at peace with myself, the world, my life, everything. The only way that will ever happen is if we all just give up on constantly wanting more, and accept what we have. But that goes against our own nature doesn't it? I don't know if I will ever have a silent night...

Yes Bex there is! If you go out quite late in the evening after a clear day you will find the stars are twinkling, the moon shining silver and the air is crisp. Hold your face up to the sky and listen, try as you might you cannot hear a thing - truly magical!! xx

Northern Arizona... St.John's to be exact... Up at a ranch.

That was the most quiet place I have ever been too...

It was a silent night AND silent DAYS too...

I have "ringing in my ears" (can't remember how to spell the word) and the quiet was so absolute that the ringing got louder and louder until I almost went crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(No exagerating)

I had to start talking to my self just to get some noise so that the ringing could be ignored.

Yes there is. :) Snow. I live in the country and when it snows, it absorbs sound. I have stood outside at night, taking in the fresh air and noticing how so very quiet it was. That is the only time I know of that has been very silent for me.

not where I live, though it comes pretty close, I'd say if you live in the middle of no where and there's no traffic thats pretty silent, then again there's still birds and other animals going about, so I suppose the answers No Bex! LOL

Out in the woods, on a winter night when the sky is clear, no traffic around and the animals are not moving about.
Pure peace.......
