preheat oven to 325 degrees F. wash inside and out, be sure you have removed giblets. do whatever you want with them. i cook them and give to dog or cat minus bones in neck. put in a pan with a cover (lid or foil) cook about 2 and a half hours. remove foil and baste with melted butter. cook until a nice brown. total time about 3 hours. if the leg moves around easily (comes out of the socket) its done. turkeys are really very easy to cook. don't worry. you can vary the process a lot and not screw up. baste it every once in a while if you like and if you remember, it browns it and helps keep it moist. good luck

Cook it in an oven bag. They are the greatest invention. It will just fall apart, brown perfectly, and will never be dry. Just baste it with butter and let it cook. Even the toughest cut of meat will be juicy and just fall apart. And cleanup is easy.

Smear it with a lot of butter or oil, roast it slowly, at about 250-300 F, keep basting it, and put a tent of foil over it after a while. Good luck.
