I just covered this like 2 weeks ago. Got it down tho. Alriight lemme take you through this.

12+x = -3+4x
Your goal is to get the variables on the left and constants on the right.
So you subtract 4x from each side.

You get ::
12+ -3x = -3

Next you wanna subtract the 12. ((Basically your jus combining like terms))
So::
-3x= -15
Divide both sides be negative three.
You get ::
x=5

2) 7x+4 = 2x - 11
Same goes here. Subtract two and add it to the seven
You get ::
5x + 4 = -11
Subtracy four frome each side::
5x= -15
Divide by 5.
x= -3

1) 12+x = -3+4x combine like terms put x's on left constants on right.(x is an understood 1 so it is 1x)
-3x = -15 divide by -3
x = 5

2) 7x+4 = 2x-11 combine like terms x on left constants on right.
5x = -15 divide by 5
x = -3

~~ Explanation for both
for #1 (12+x = -3+4x) when u combine you have to get the variable on the left and the constant on the right of equal sign. so you have to subtract 4x from each side and 12 from each side so the +4x and -4x cancel out and same for the 12. so there is no chice but the x to be on left and constant on right. then after that just get the x by itself by dividing by the number in front of the x.

12+x = -3+4x
subtract "X" from both sides
12+x-x = -3 +4x-x
12 = -3 + 3x
Add "3" to both sides
3+12 = 3-3 +3x
15=3x
divide bother sides by "3"
15/3 = 3x/3
5 = x

7x+4 = 2x - 11
subtract "2x" from both sides
-2x+7x + 4 = -2x+2x -11
5x +4 = -11
subtract "4" from both sides
5x +4-4 = -11-4
5x = -15
divide both sides by "5"
5x/5 = -15/5
x = -3

1. 12+x = -3+4x -- 15 = 3x -- x = 5
2. 7x+4 = 2x-11 -- 5x = -15 -- x = -3

hey here it is
1.
12+x=-3+4x
12+3=4x-x
15=3x
15/3=x
5=x

2.
7x+4=2x-11
7x-2x=-11-4
5x=-15
x=-15/5
x=-3

12+x=-3 + 4x

12-12+x=-3-12+4x
x=-15+4x
x-4x=-15+4x-4x
-3x=-15
x=5

7x+4=2x-11
7x-2x+4=2x-2x-11
5x+4=-11
5x=-15
x=-3
