You have a 1994 and it has 198K on the trans and you are complaining? Thats just a trans thats past its useful life. You should consider yourself lucky. A lot of other people had transmission failure at earlier miles.

Most of the problem with Chrysler transmissions is that people add the wrong ATF to them. Or a transmission shop changes the ATF and adds the wrong ATF. They are designed to use ATF+3, or ATF+4 (newer models), but people insist on putting Dexron into them, thus turning them into garbage within 6 months, give or take.
While it is true that the 41TE, and the A604 are not strong transmissions, when properly taken care of, they can last as long as any other.
Please read:

for an explanation of the Dexron issue.

I have a 2000 at 175,000, no issues. I have replaced the filter twice so far and flushed by pulling the return line 3 times It has always been clean inside. I know someone who had early 90's with problems but, people mixed up the fluid a lot during those years!

Most chrysler trannys are garbage. You usally will not get much more than 100 to 125000 out of them. The newer ones are a little better. To bad because the majority of there engines are very strong. If they would just get a decent tranny maybe they would have a better rep.

Yes we broke 3rd gear(failed weld) at 157,000 miles. Overhauled it and have another 30K miles on her.
Flush every year to prevent 99 percent of the other failures that plague these vehicles. There isn't enough fluid in them and it gets too hot and breaks down and then the differentials fail or some other bearings/clutches take a dive. Clean fresh fluid is cheap protection.
