I love this question. First, I love my family and our Savior Jesus--they easily fit into 'hero' status. Without having met the man except through his music, books and things others have said about about him, John Philip Sousa ranks as a first order citizen, patriot, musician, gentleman and someone whom I'd be honored to call a family member. I dearly hope that I am his friend in Heaven. 'Nuff said.

Batman...seriously. He doesn't have powers (don't call him a fake superhero) but he still fights on a daily basis for his city. And he does a great job keeping it safe too. Batman doesn't need powers to be awesome, he's got is a good reason to protect Gotham, some helpful gadgets and super-great brain power; and that's just as good. He's a real example of what you can do if you put your mind to it.
