I always say "Oh I am so sorry she just passed away" or "We just lost her to cancer", they are generally really shocked and respond so apologetically.

I am always kind because I have been a telemarketer for several years(not right now though). I try to be polite and just say I am not interested! I only hang up if they keep on and on or are rude!

Here is a really good response that I saw Jerry Seinfeld do on TV one time, several years ago. He said that he asked for the telemarketer's phone number, so that he (Jerry) could call him (the telemarketer), when he (the telemarketer) was having his dinner! The telemarketer just hung up. *sm*

ohh that's so mean hahaha but funny
i always want to say something real witty and smart butt to them but i tend to chicken out for some reason!!
they always think i'm like this older person and they talk forever without giving me a chance to talk and then they finnnally go "are you 18 or older?" and i go no..
so we end up wasting both or precious time!!!
oh and they always say my last name wrong! so annoying. one time the marketer goes "is mrs. rabe home?" (it's supposed to be ray-bee) she goes "no there's no one by that name here" heehee
i dislike telemarketers.. :(

I usually say "Hang on just a moment" and set the phone down and go about my business.

I usually ask for their shoe size, and then their opinion on something that is totally irrelevant (ie, what color they think the bathroom should be painted)

I would like to say something like that, but my parents dont let me. Usually we can recognize when its them, on the caller ID, and we dont even pick up. My parents get pissed when i pick it up, cuz they seem to feel obliged to be polite and listen to them. Next time i am just gonna say "Welcome to Pizza Palace, can i take your order?"

We have a new law here where you can get on a "list" and they can't call you. Now, no one ever calls me....:(

I miss being asked "How are you today?" :)
