how does the whole drinking while walking down the sidewalk in vegas work? can u take your drink in casinos? or do they make u get rid of it?

On the strip, you can indeed go anywhere you wish with a cocktail. It doesn't matter if you walk out of a casino with one of their glasses in your hand and set it down in another casino.
Sometimes I go "Glass Harvesting" on the strip. I grab up all kinds of glasses that have been left outside casinos. They are really thick and make great candle holders!

You can walk on the strip with a drink and enter another casino. Just don't wander off the strip. You will be stopped by the police. On NYE you can not have bottles or cans. All drinks have to be in plastic containers. Anyother time is doesn't matter.
