He's obviously quite talented. Good passer/shooter, and fits well in a running system. But, he's probably the worst defender in the NBA. He has never started an All-star game, not because he hasn't deserved it, but because he's never been one of the top 2 guards in his league for any given year. And now, he's on his 2nd team playing with multiple all-stars to help him. Plus, phoenix has several other high quality players. But, yet he's never been to the finals even once. Sure, 2 MVPs, but only because he plays a very good team. No way is he even close to lebron, kobe, duncan, just to name a few.

Nash is great, but he is a system player. Look at when he played with the Mavs, his numbers werent even close as to what they are now. Its the system. There are ALOT of PG's in the league who could run that offense just as smoothly as Nash (esp. given the time). Chris Paul could prob. do it better, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, etc....he was never deserving of an MVP. He has so much talent around him and Mike D'Antoni has done a perfect job implementing the perfect offense for them. Put Nash in a slow down half court offense at all and his numbers drastically change (proven by the stats with the Mavs). He is def. exciting to watch, as are all the Suns (Marion is very underrated btw) but the guy is not an MVP.

Put it this way, John Stockton NEVER won an MVP despite averaging numbers that are comparable to Nash's best season. Stockton also did it with mainly just 1 guy while the Suns have a whole crew of players, and Stockton did it in a half court offense.

The Suns made a big mistake signing him back in 2004, I'll state some of the reasons (and this is comming from a Suns fan)

Alright, this is going to be a long story so here it goes...Before the summer they did a good thing by getting rid of Marbury. They had plenty of cap space and a team of young players, they were the youngest team in the league at the time. They had a emergeing Stoudemire, Marion who is always great and Joe Johnson.

The summer came along, they got the #7 pick which they used to draft Deng, everything was going good so far until they traded him for basically nothing to the Bulls, a #30 something pick who doesn't even play in the league. They than sign Nash and Richardson, they should have just got Richardson and a vetran minimum pointguard and kept Deng.

Anyway so they sign Nash and have a great season and go from 29 to 62 games. To make this story shorter, tensions start to rise. Joe Johnson feels he isn't getting enough of a role and wants to be traded, so the Suns just trade him for Diaw. Diaw plays good one year and the Suns offer him 9M a year and now he plays with no emotion and is basically a bust.

The Suns traded Richardson to the Knicks for Kurt Thomas, that was a alright trade but later they traded Thomas again for basically nothing to clear space.

Also ever since the 2004 the Suns have traded away most of their draft picks, they only kept two this year, probally the worse out of all the picks they could have had.

Sure the Suns had Nash and are winning but they gave away their future basically.

Look at it this way, if Nash never would have come to the Suns Johnson would still be on the team and the Suns would have Deng and all the other draft picks on the team most likely.

This would have been a great team to watch and build for a real chance in the future instead of going to the run and gun style.

Well, Nash is better than Tim Duncan. Look at it this way, Nash is the leading scorer leader in the NBA, for the past years and even now. Without him, Marion & Stoudemire, wouldn't be scoring as much as they normally would without Nash's great passes. He also is a great shooter and can open the court easily. However, I agree with you about the lebron & kobe issue. I think Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA and I would've given the MVP to him, he drives his team to the playoffs every year and was the leading scorer for many years. Lebron is going to need time to get to his prime, but for his age, he is amazing!

You know I must be the biggest steve nash hater out there, this dude sucks!!! Steve nash hurts his team with his incapability of playing any defense, he gets so much credit for getting alot of assists but look at all the stars he's playing with. Chris paul is the real deal because he plays with half the talent steve nash does and he still can get as many assists. And also steve nash is a fool because he was the one who actually ran into robert horry, If you look closely you will see a ton of space on the court and you'll see robert horry just standing in the corner and steve nash goes running into him and then he flops like he got hit by a train. Then his flop backfired on him because his teammates got suspended which pretty much lead to the spurs owning them the rest of the series.Steve nash sucks thank god he left dallas, we are better off without his sucky azz. And then you see steve nash crying after he loses playoff series, what a bitchh.

I personally don't think he is amazing but he is the reason the suns win. He gets all the players involved, TEAMWORKS win championships. When i am playing just a pick up game, i hate people who just run down the court and try to force some shots. Steve Nash's last thing on his mind is force a shot.
Reasons he is good.
1.Amazing passer
2.Amazing Court Vision
3. Can shoot(freethrows,3's)
4.Run's a perfect pick and roll

NEgatives?

1. Defense
2. Defense
3. Defense

Even though his defense is bad, his offense makes up for it.

He hasn't made it to the NBA finals because Amare Stoudimre keeps getting injured. Just like Karl Malone. Why is he considered in the top two power forwards of all time? Did he win even one ring? No. That's because Basketball is a team sport.

The fact that he accomplishes so much despite his physical limitations (he's not a 7 footer like Duncan or Garnett, he can't leap out of the building like Kobe or LeBron, he's not that fast, not that strong).. In short, he's not athetically super-gifted, but he PLAYS the game so freaking well.

He might be a bad defender but hes is one of the best in the league. His is getting older but he still beats out the younger guys in almost every category.

He contributes to the team. he's a great outside shooter and can find his teammates for open looks. he has at least 10 assists a game.
