I would name her Abigail and call her Abby, but seeing that you don't want to name your baby Abigail I think Abby or Abbie stand well on their own as full names. Abby and Abbie do not sound masculine, but rather very pretty. The only thing I'm worried about (I'm also considering Abigail/Abby) is that my daughter's name won't age with her.
P.S.
I think Abby/Abbie are much better than Kaitlyn.

I think Abby is a wonderful name and it is fine that you don't want to name her Abigail (personally i wouldn't want to name my kid Abigail either). It is a very pretty name and in no way does it sound masculin. Kaitlyn is a nice name but I like Abby better.
Hope this helps :)

Abby is cute for a little girl, but what about when she is a woman? I'm not sure what Abby could be a nickname for other than Abigail. I do like the name Abigail though.

I love the name Abby or Abbie. It sounds great alone, without Abigale. It does not sound masculine at all to me and it is way better than kaitlyn

I love Abby or Abigail...absolutely LOVE it! Kaitlyn I do not like-It sounds like an airhead. Abby sounds cultured and sophisticated, as well as pretty.

Kaitlyn is TOOO common now.
I like Abby. And you don't have to name her Abigail just so you can call her Abby. Name her Abby (and Abby and Abbie).
Good luck!

Abbie/Abby and Kaitlyn are all beautiful names, but they are really common now. Your girl is going to have a hard time differentiating herself from others with the same name unless you have a very unique last name. Consider a unique but not weird name...Lois, Rosemary, Glenda, Miriam, Vivian, Victoria, Lacie, something that you don't hear every day or on soap operas. Good luck, sweetie!
