So I had this insane craving for Coldstone ice cream so I took the 20 min drive there and of course about 3 blocks from my house on the way back I guess I was paying more attention to my ice cream than the road! Well I was only going about 15 mph and rear-ended the car in front of me. I had my seatbelt on and I guess when my body went forward and the seatbelt took me back I felt that pressure on my belly. I went to the ER by ambulance just to be safe although there was no pain or bleeding at all. They did an ultrasound, I'm almost 11 weeks, and I saw my little one moving around in there with a heartrate of 168. The accident was about 5 hours ago I still have no pain, no bleeding nothing like that. I should be fine right?? I have to follow up on Wednes. but I shouldn't get too worried right?/

If the doctor found nothing to be alarmed about and you feel fine, most likely your little one is fine. When I was 24 weeks pregnant, a client (who was 20 y/o but mentally challenged) kicked me in the stomach...hard! (I even doubled over in pain.) I went to the doctor's office and had a stress test. Turns out that my little guy was perfectly fine. My doctor told me that there is plenty of padding (no matter what size you are), especially with the embryonic fluid. If anything, your stress can cause more harm to your child. So relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Just be aware of any new pains or unusual discharge. This still doesn't mean anything is wrong with your baby but the doctor should be more than happy to make sure your little one is okay.

Needless to say, my son is almost four years old and perfectly healthy.

Don't get too worried. Your baby is really well protected in there. If you have any bleeding or *abnormal* pain, (something more than soreness) then go to the doctor.

I was rear-ended sitting at a red light when I was seven months pregnant. My car was totaled, but I and my baby were OK. I understand how scared you are. Try to not get too worked up about it. The doctors were more worried about my elevated blood pressure (from being so scared) then they were from the accident.

It's understandable that you are concerned. I'm glad you went to the ER to get checked out. Try very hard not to obsess over this.

Of course if you do start having pains or bleeding you will definitely want to go back to the hospital.

My guess is you will be fine until Wednesday.

No reason to be worried. Worry won't make any difference, but can cause you to be stressed out, which isn't good for you.

As an aside, I'm a bit dumbfounded that you would drive 20 min. to buy ONE THING at a grocery store. Gas is $2.85 a gallon here. Are you really that wasteful or was this just the odd trip?

no it sounds like your fine hun, just be more carefull next time lol. i hope you enjoyed your ice cream tho. the main thing is your ok and your baby is fine and his/her heart beat is wonderfull right now, and if there was a problem well, you would bleed and they would have told you at the hospital when they did the ultrasound. remember when driving while pregnant its best to put the seat belt under your tummy where your bump is because then that way your baby dont get hurt and its safer that way. the RTA told me that one. good luck and im pleased to know its all ok.

Your baby has a nice shock-absorbing spot in your uterus, and if your doctor/nurse isn't concerned, you shouldn't be. I was also in a car accident while pregnant (7 mos.)and went to the ER to get checked out and was told the same thing: if you have no pain and no bleeding, just make sure you have your OB check you really well at your next appt.

Hope your accident wasn't too serious! My car was totaled and we still haven't replaced it. (16 months ago).

I'm sure it was pretty scary and it is natural to be worried. The doctor said that you are fine. I'm sure you are. If you are too worried you might add some unneeded stress to your baby and cause problems in your pregnancy. Relax for both of your safety.

I was in a car accident at 8 months and everything turned out fine, I was given a stress test and everything was ok. i'm sure that you'll be ok, but if you experience anything outside the norm be sure to call your doctor!

Right--chill out!

its normal to be concerned through but if they found nothing, & you feel fine than why stress yourself out?

Chances are you'd be stressed though without the pregnancy as car accidents can be shocking & freak the most calm person out.
