6 y = 4 x + 30
y = (2/3) x + 5

Alex got it right:

4x-6y=-30

Add 6y to both sides and that will negate the 6y on the left side of the equation:

4x=--30+6y

Then, to remove the four, divide both sides by four. The resulting equation will be x=(-30+6y)/4.

Usually f(x)=y
so we isolate y to get f(x) which is the function of x
so we do algebra
4x+30=6y
then divide by 6
2/3x +5 =y
so f(x)= 2/3x +5

Well, you have to find a way to get x all by itself on one side of the equation by reversing what's currently being done. So if it says +3 you need to do -3.

4x - 6y = - 30
4x = 6y - 30
2x = 3y - 15
x = (3y - 15)/2

4x - 6y = - 30
- 6y = - 4x - 30
- 3y = - 2x - 15
3y = 2x + 15
y = (2x + 15)/3
