Will you get offense if I listen to Chinese music on myspace and my room. You are my friends and you are visiting my myspace and my place. You hear the music, but you don't understand. Will you get offense?

I am an Asian, but I am in America for an education. Do I need to listen to American/Englsih Music as all time? Will you understand if I have to speak to my parents in my language. Please advice. Thank you.

No. Listen to whatever you like. You can also speak in whatever language you like. The only time it's rude is when you're in a group and one person or more doesn't understand. You should translate for those left out.

Cheers

First of all, I hate to see the words, 10 points for honest answers. I am a mature woman and always am honest to a fault. Because I am mature, I understand your need for your roots of your family's origin and your cultural experiences. They are important to you and as a friend, no one should get offended and they should understand. I would d ask you what the topic of the music is about as I am curious and interested. You listen to whatever you want. It is your choice, but give American music try sometimes, as I am afraid someone may think you don't like Americans. Do you understand this way of thinking? I would be offended if you spoke in your native language to me and I didn't know what you were saying. How could I communicate with you if I don't understand? You can learn and do both.
I am an Italian-American and occasionally I speak some Italian and listen to Italian operas . I love Andrea Boccelli!Just limit your time with Americans to times when you can communicate and still listen to your music but don't leave friends out completely. Do both!

No I would not be offended. Whatever music you prefer should be on your myspace. You don't hear Jewish people complaining about the Christmas music, so why would someone complain about your Chinese music?

You don't need to listen to American music all of the time, you should listen to what you like and I wouldn't care what language you speak to your parents. That is up to you!
Hope that helps.

I'm asian.......and i have no problem with any...I listen to Asian music, and i speak to my parents in Vietnamese. Sometimes i even accidentally speak to my friends at school in Vietnemese. They even want to learn my language too so we can have our own little language that we can both usually understand and no one else can. I wouldn't get offensive.. I was born here in America, and I never thought of it as being a problem. SO don't worry. Everyone is different. And with my Asian friends......we sometimes speak both Vietnamese and English in a sentence so it's like mixed lol. AND this is a free country so don't care what other people think of you. We all have to be unique some how.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I would not get offended, you are of a different culture and race. Everyone has there own likes and dislikes when it comes to music.I think you should listen to whatever you want to, If American music appeals to you then listen away, but I think it would be cool if your friends came over and took a liking to your favorite Chinese music, Music is beautiful in all genres and such, sorry for sounding like Dr Phil or something

Much Love

I wouldn't be offended at all, not because I'm Chinese too but I respect people's culture. Like I listen to Japanese music and I use to have a myspace, whenever someone goes to my page it plays a Japanese music. So no I wouldn't be offended.

Well, honestly I wud not be offended.

If you enjoy listening to chinese music on ur myspace, put it there. It doesnt matter. No, you dont need to listen to American/English music all the time, it's not like.. ur forced to listen it. Its just ur style of music. If anyone ever goes up to ur page and comments that ur chinese music is this and that, then they're just being disrespectful to u and ur country.

what you mean to say is: will you get offended? and to answer your question i wouldnt care if you spoke to your parents in chinese. but the music on your myspace might weird me out a little bit. not to a point where i wouldnt talk to you, but i probably would be hesitant to talk to you because i would think you didnt speak good english. i would try out different types of music for the most social contact.

I respect that you still listen to music you enjoy from home. Don't let a new culture think it is wrong to be who you are. Be open to new music and new types of people. but never forget where you are from and what makes you, you.

I hope everything is going well in America! if you need any more advice feel free to email me.

good luck!

Wow I would love to hear you talk I love the sound of Asian languages they sound so cool and I listen to Japanese music a lot so I would not get offended. If it's your culture and someone gets mad at you then they are not respecting you.

You can listen to anything you would like. :] In America everyone has a different kind of music that they like, and they listen to anything they want. A lot of American people like music from other countries too.
