4x - 7 - x = 8
3x = 15
x = 5
19 = 5x - 4x + 9
x = 10
- 68 = 6x + x + 2
7x = - 70
x = - 10
- 6 - 4x - 6x = 54
10x = - 60
x = - 6
x^2 - 8x - 20 = 0
(x - 10)(x + 2) = 0
x = 10, - 2

First you should always try to simplify the problem:)
4x-x-7=8
3x-7=8
then you have to get all of the X's on one side by adding 7 to both sides
3x-7=8
+7 +7
=3x=15
then you have to divide both sides by 3x
3x/3x=x and 15/3x=5
so x=5
19=5x-4x+9
19=1x+9
-9 -9
10 0
10=x
-68=6x+x+2
-68=7x+2
-2 -2
-70=7x
-70/7x=-10 and 7x/7x=x
-10=x

1.
4x - 7- x = 8
3x - 7 = 8
3x = 15
x = 5
2.
19 = 5x - 4x + 9
19 = x + 9
x = 19 - 9
x = 10
3.
-68 = 6x + x + 2
-68 = 7x + 2
-68 - 2 = 7x
-70 = 7x
x = -10
4.
-6 - 4x - 6x = 54
-6 - (-2x) = 54
-6 + 2x = 54
2x = 54 - (-6)
2x = 60
x = 30
5.
x^2 - 8x - 20 = 0
(x - 10)(x + 2) = 0
x = 10 or -2
x^1 can have 1 answer(mostly) , x^2 can have 2 answers(mostly)......

These are not real problems and have no true solution however:4x-7-x=8/4x-x=8-(-7)/4x-x=15/3x=15,x=3First balance out the whole #s then settle x then x= the coefficient of x divided into The whole number on the other side of the = sign

Always isolate the variable.
3x - 7 = 8
3x= 15
x= 5
19= 1x + 9
10= 1x
x= 10
-68= 7x + 2
-70= 7x
-10= x
Got it?

Keep x to one side and constants to other side of "=" sign
for the first four.
For the last one it is a quadratic equation so you can use Quadratic formula ie.
x = {-b +(b^2 - 4ac)}/2a and x = {-b -(b^2 - 4ac)}/2a
Quadratic equations have two answers or roots(either real and distinct or real and equal or unreal)

5,10,-10,-10, and not sure whether you meant 2x or x squared on the last problem. these are fairly simple questions- just get the variable on one side by itself and then solve.exe:
2x-5=7
2x=12
x=6

just get the variable alone by adding the opposite, or collecting like terms, then divide by the coefficient, when you DIVIDE, you go DOWNSTAIRS...put coefficient under number on the otherside of equal sign..theres ure answer, then simplify it
