I don't know what the point of Christmas is, but a time of year where stores make the most profits. If it's because it's Jesus's birthday then why do people go broke for themselves and family buying gifts? I guess I am asking you the same question. My bad. 2 points pls.

The point is that we celebrate Jesus's birth. Calling Christmas a waste of time is just not believing in family togetherness.

It celebrates Jesus' birthday. It also brings families together. While I agree that stores do take advantage of this season to maximise their profits people buy presents for others as like a peace offering just like the soldiers that didn't fight on Christmas Day. Lots of athiests out there ask questions like this, but if you don't like it just don't celebrate it.

it's the birth of Jesus Christ - that's the point of it! now all religions seem to be using it as a time to give and receive - and the thought of that alone is great, but Christmas unfortunately has lost its maning and has become a time of selfish people wanting it all, while others out there have nothing.

I agree. Its all about consumerism and pressure.
Us women are flippin worn out, what with all the chosing pressies, shopping, wrapping, cooking and generally ensuring everyone is satisfied.
I will flop into bed exhausted, skint and wondering why on earth I spent all that money. If christmas was cancelled I would be ecstatic.
Its no good thinking I can opt out any year because i can't.

The point of Christmas is to celebrate Christ's birth. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, the whole spirit of the season is beautiful.
Why is it a waste of time?

All the commericalism and the materialism is what makes christmas bad.
If people would just spend time with their families and friends that is what matters. The material things in life don't matter it is time with family and friends that do matter.
