OK, good question. The republican side has 2 stands on this 1 never 2 the democrats will do it. The democratic side also has 2 and say 1 never 2 controls will be implemented. So by understanding the way republicans exaggerate when talking about democratic policy I would have to say controls will be implemented.

They are not taking our guns away. We can't take away the Iraqis guns so I don't think it is logistically possible. I have three guns that I bought from private parties so who would know I have a gun? It is a scare tactic that politicians and the NRA use to try and sway the way you vote. The hunters here in Wisconsin just got finished killing over 300,000 white tails with high powered rifles. That's a lot of guns. I don't like or trust the Homeland Security act but think our guns are safe for now.

With the turncoat, NRA's help very soon.
They just passed a bill that will let them take your gun if you:
have ever told a nurse you were depressed (doesn't matter if your mother just died)
or if after coming back from a war where you had to burn the enemy out of a cave with a flame thrower, you had post traumatic stress disorder (even if this happened 50 years ago)
or if you are a cop and your wife while divorcing you filed a restraining order against you (to kick you out of the house) because that's what her attorney told her to do.
Of all our freedoms this one is very important because without the right to keep and bear arms being protected by the Constitution, the government will feel no restraint.

No one knows. My best guess is "Not for a very long time." I think enough policy wonks know that any effort will not be 100% successful because there are sufficient numbers of hard-core gun nuts. And the mild-mannered gun owners who'd willingly give up their gun aren't the kind who'd be dangerous to the country.
So I thank you for your inflammatory question and hope my brief answer was helpful.

Not before George declares a national emergency, nukes NY City, suspends the 08 elections until Christ returns, declares himself EMPORER and equal to God!
Oh, by the way, they can have my guns but only after they pry them from my cold, dead fingers!

This would never happen. The Republican party's base is conservatives who would never in a million years let their gun rights escape out the window like that. And the Democrats wouldn't try it either.

when the U.N. deems it is right to take away the guns from Americans, i hope we have a president that just says NO,.....and then that President says it is time to remove our selves from the U.N. and the U.N. must leave the U.S.A.,.....
