Scottrade. They are cheap and reliable so far.

I've traded now for approximately 3 years personally and have found that Zecco offers solid execution. The reliability of the website is suspect at times (maybe once every month or so I find that the site is down--but only for a small period of time). The execution is what counts in discount brokerages (or free ones like Zecco). And at times, I actually beat out friends with execution and they use TDAmeritrade (we day trade together sometimes). But note that Zecco is free only for the first 10 trades every month and $4.50 thereafter. Also, if you trade options, there is little difference between zecco and other discount brokerages. In the end, I would recommend zecco over others. Don't use Scottrade--they have terrible execution. And Etard (err Etrade) might have the worst customer service ever (typical wait time is around 1 hour at times).

Scottrade.

You should read this (negative) article on Zecco.

You get what you pay for..

and unless you plan on doing a LOT of trading, does it really matter if it costs $1, $3, $6 or $0. What is more important is the dependability of the site, and the viability of the company you are giving your money to.

Good Luck

Scottrade. No fees. Limit or market orders for $7. Can start an account with just $500. I've got no complaints and have had them for years.

I've used Scottrade for all of my investing needs. (I have a traditional IRA with them as well as an account for normal stock trades). I really like their service as well as all of the options they offer for research and investments. They are also on the lower end of the fees' scale. You should definitely check them out.

Thinkorswim is awesome in options. They also offer good commission rates on stock, commodities and FOREX trades.
