This never happened.

It is very important to note that Paul Revere warned people that the 'red coats' were coming, not the British. The colonists still considered themselves British at this point and were hoping for a quick and peaceful resolution that would leave them under rule of the crown but not Parliament.

Paul revere was but the least of the riders who warned, and the only to get captured.

Prescott, Dawes, & revere, and other riders who are not known activated the militia with their warnings; riding out from Boston and Lexington in all directions.

the only reason Revere is famous is the Longfellow poem, and it that it rhymes better than Prescott and Dawes.
