When I send an email to the White House and I get this response,
"On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence. We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions. Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House cannot respond to every message. Thank you again for taking the time to write."
Does that mean that they will get to my email as soon as possible, or that they get so many emails that they want to say "thanks for writting, and better luck next time"?

And no, I didn't expect a personal response from Bush. I was expecting some people that were hired with our taxes that don't seem to be doing much to answer for Bush...

It means you're not going to get another reply.
However, your email will go into a batch somewhere. It may get funneled to someone whose job it is to keep tabs on how voters feel about - taxes, the war, the ecology, foreign affairs, etc. Your email will end up as a statistic or part of a briefing.
And don't underestimate the importance of what politicians call "groundswell" issues. If you wrote about a stretch of I-80 somewhere, that might become just another "highways" or "domestic issues" thing. But if the White House reader gets several emails with the same topic, that could become a "groundswell," and would generate some buzz inside the beltway.
If you took the trouble to write, good on ya! Don't fret if you don't get a specific answer. And have a great Christmas!

Translation : We're doing this as a courtesy, and because we'll get ripped if we don't, but we don't really want to hear from you . Have a nice day . Good-bye .
What's the address you sent it to ? I've tried before (3 or 4 times), and was redirected a GOP - operated site , where I was invited to sign a petition in support of the president .(I knew it was probably hopeless, but had to try) Not allowed to see the petition , but could sign it . No place for comments either .

The white living house does not have authority over your brother's case. The white living house represents the administrative branch collectively as the judicial branch is managing your brother's case. you would be extra valuable off writing letters to the U.S. ultimate court docket approximately your brother.

Please tell me that you didn't believe you would get a personal response. Maybe you failed to mention that you are "Level 2" on Yahoo Answers, that might have really grabbed their attention. I am pretty sure that those working in the Bush Administration have far more important things to do than answer every e-mail or letter in person.

They are basically saying we doubt that we will ever read your email anytime in the next 10 years. But keep your hopes up for a response. believe me i wouldn't hold your breath.

All the emails, letters and faxes sent in are
"tabulated" by the White House staff responsible
for handling them. The results would then be sent
to the President who would then totally ignore it
because he does as he darn pleases anyway.
I think that's fairly accurate.

it means what it says, they cant answer you indiviudally. they have staffers that address topics and concerns and apply themselves to whats an issue. you dont answer every single email that comes to you so why would you expect the president to if you dont?
