Jose A. Rodriguez Jr. He is the man, according to recent press reports, who ordered the destruction of interrogation tapes made by the CIA, which allegedly show the effects of waterboarding and other "enhanced interrogation techniques" used against terrorists Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. In the next few months, his name will likely be dragged through the mud, and he will be vilified as a rogue official engaged in a massive cover-up. I think he deserves a medal.

I don't understand why the CIA was requested to release those tapes anyway. Torture for information is a valid and historic method of interrogation. The torture that our enemies have performed is nothing less than cruelty for sport, revenge and the epitome of wickedness. They have no intent to derive military secrets from our soldiers but to display their sadistic behavior.
As far as the tapes are concerned, the general public and the media has no business with that information! I am happy the tapes were destroyed.

I disagree. I think any person who tortures another deserves to suffer the same fate.

Torture is terrorism. The use of force or the threat of the use of force....to compel a person to commit an act, or to discourage a person from acting. Anyone who tortures another person is by definition, a terrorist.

Don't get the idea that I am sympathetic towards terrorists. I just believe that people are innocent until proven guilty. When they are found guilty, they need to be punished. That may mean prison, or it may mean execution, but never torture.

Otherwise, we become what we are supposed to be fighting.

Id like to know more details. But as long as it was legal, fine.

But what Im not comfortable with are people who break the law like Sandy Burger, go destroy records in the national archive, then get off lightly.

They said they destroyed the tapes because of the risk of identity of their operatives. How the hell people are blaming this on Bush is beyond any reason and illustrated pure sheep like characteristics and sheer ignorance.

I don't know about hero or villain, but he was only doing what has been common practice in the CIA, the destruction of material which could compromise the identity of CIA operatives.
