Only because the media makes such a to-do about it all. There's noting particularly news-worthy about pregnancy or babies. Woman has sex, gets pregnant, has child. This has been going on since the very dawn of time. No news here.

of course, because if you don't have to deal with the morals of normal society you can use anything you want as an accessory even if it is a human being or a pet, or anything else they happen to think is cool at the time

blame the idiots that buy those stupid magazines....
Pregnancy has long been a trend in women of childbearing age... that's why our species continues to exist.
