Rice: US has 'no permanent enemies' By MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday held out the prospect of improved relations with the remaining two members of President Bush's "axis of evil," Iran and North Korea, as long as they meet international demands over their nuclear programs. Rice said the Bush administration in its remaining year would welcome fundamental changes in its dealings with the two countries, as well as with Syria, and as an example pointed to warming ties with Libya, which renounced weapons of mass destruction in 2003.

"The United States doesn't have permanent enemies, we're too great a country for that," she told reporters at a State Department press conference.

Madalene Albright said some pretty hilarious things when she was Secty of State. Like when she was asked by Lesley Stahl on 60 Minutes if causing the deaths of half a million Iraqi children and elderly during the 1990's thru sanctions was worth it in order to send a message to Saddam Hussein, and she said in no uncertain terms that it was worth it.

That quote and sound clip is played repeatedly throughout the Middle East, even if it has disappeared down America's memory hole.

On the subject of America's military arsenal, Albright also said "What's the point in all these weapons if you aren't going to use them?"

I think Albright was a lot more "funny" than Condi Rice.
