A Bow Around Me
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

They had only each other.
Not much food.
Few clothes.
Worn out shoes.
Yet they were not sad.
Like the rich who cherish wealth.
Then weep at it's loss.
No they had other riches,
That accrued other interests.
They didn't seek pity,
For sadness was not in them.
They were givers of joy,
To all who had met them.
Long ago they found a gift,
That would sustain them all their days.
All their nights,
In every way.
They recieved Jesus into their hearts,
As a personal gift of love.
It was as if God had said,
"Tie a Bow Around Me."
That's how happy you could be.

It reminds me of my mother and her five younger brothers
In the mid '40s she was born
The youngest in the early '60s
In the deep south
She was dirt poor
Her parents scraped to get food
And sometimes they had to go without it
And she never knew what it was like to have toys
And she did not have shoes to wear
In the summer
Yet her parents
They would give the shirt off their backs
If someone needed it more than them
Her parents taught them about Christ
And she and three of her brothers had religious names
My mother said she would not change
Anything about her childhood
Except she wish she had more education
(college: she did graduated from high school, but did not go to college)
Her parents together
'Till death seperated them a few decades ago
Her parents
Whether or not they realized it
They....
Tied the bow around God

I loved it.
It reminds me of when we were kids, we had 9 kids, not so easy for our parents to remember one year to the next. Anyway, they bought my little sister the same dollhouse 2 years in a row, she loved it the second time two.
We really had some wonderful parents, never had a lot, but just enough.
