Hi i currently own the new Product Red ipod shuffle fantastic invention great for the money.

No you pay nothing for itunes is all free. The only time you pay apple for the itunes service is only when you purchase songs, music videos and tv programmes. Podcasts are free.

Each song is $0.99 about £0.79p

Albums will vary.

The ipod shuffle has a brilliant battery life surpsingly how small it is. Works great for running or at the gym, or just genetreally out and about.

I have provided you a good link straight from apple.com showing you a brief tech spec.

Here below is the official overview of what you get.

What’s in the box
• iPod shuffle
• Earphones
• USB dock
• Quick Start guide

iTunes
Available as a free download, iTunes makes it easy to browse and buy millions of songs, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and games and download free podcasts — all at the iTunes Store. And you can import your own music, manage your whole media library, and sync your iPod or iPhone with ease.

To be honest for how small they are now and for what you get i personally would spend a biot more for the ipod nano, for the money you get another 3GB which is another 750 songs.

The ipod shuffle has no display at all, and does not allow you to pick which song to play next. It only plays in random shuffle mode, hence the name. If you want random mode all the time, the Shuffle's small size may make it the device for you. Personally I like to pick what song to listen to, and i need a screen to do that, so I look for something a little more robust.

I have an ipod but not the shuffle. If you prefer to just listen to music, then get it.
Itunes does cost...it ranges from 1.99 per song.
