Is there an insect that you would rather die than eat?

In that situation Amy I'd have to do a taste test first.
I would stay away from fat juicy insects, unless my mouth was really dry or maybe try to dehydrate them first you know, make a trail mix. I couldn't eat blood sucking insects, you know, Lyme disease, so no fleas and ticks. No flies because I think they would taste like ocra(the grossest veggie on the planet, next to bread fruit). Spiders would take a lot of preparation, kind of like shrimp or lobster, I would have to remove the head and legs. For some reason I think they would be the delicacy of the insect world, along with beetles, which would need the outer shell removed. Lots of work, but well worth the trouble.
If I had to choose between eating insects or dieing?
Well now, that would depend on who was with me. If I was alone I would probably go mad first, then who knows what would happen. I may run around eating them raw in hand fulls with freaky lookin eyes and not bathe

I guess the key to this is 'if I had to live by eating insects...' well, in Africa we used to eat big orange caterpillars but they are seasonal (sauteed in a little hot butter they taste quite peppery). Flying ants are good, nice and oily so just a quick spin through a hot pan - that gets rid of the wings too. Locusts/grasshoppers I haven't tried but I can't see why not, they only eat what cattle and sheep eat.

I've heard cockroaches leave a terrible taste in the mouth that is difficult to get rid of so I'd avoid them.

I've eaten the odd fly, but only because they fly down your throat if you're running and panting - or talking! (so not by choice).

Nice question!

It's funny how people get sicken by the idea of eating insects yet they are eating cockroach legs and other insects parts unknowingly that the FDA allows in our food as long as it doesn't pose a health risk...

Maybe ants because they are small and hopefully don't crunch much when bitten. Gross. I wouldn't rather die than eat an insect, but I would have to be some ******* hungry!!

I guess I could live on fried grasshoppers (pull the legs and heads off first) and toasted baby bumblebees. I would have to administer a general anesthetic to the BBBs first, wouldn't want them to suffer or anything.

Nobody would choose death over eating a bug, no matter what kind of bug.

Ugh. I'd rather die than eat a spider, a cockroach, or a praying mantis. Those are DISGUSTING.
I guess I'd be okay eating ants. But just the thought... ugh.

I would rather die than eat a spider. Anything else I'd be fine eating.

I guess chocolate covered ants or grasshoppers would do if I really had no other choice. I would never eat a roach or water bug, I really would starve first.

I wouldn't mind eating a gnat, and have probably eaten hundreds in my lifetime. Not on purpose, though. I could never eat a tarantula.
