When I came in the room his back fin just started going crazy and he was going up down side to side. Is he sick or cold? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I have a 7 day food tablet in the aquarium though. Does he not see it?

COULD BE BLADDER PROBS
could be trying to get your attention,to say hey,im bored get me a mate.
He could be cold, but more likly to be pale&sluggish if thie was so.
Hows water ph?
Mine do it in the morning, trying to get my attention for food(even jumping out!)
add a tiny pinch aquarium/sea salt to water(helps prtective coating)
i dont think its sick(i cant find a medical explanation in any of my betta books.
just pamper him/keep well fed&in clean conditions&if weirdness persists, take it to aquarium&get expert advice.
The feeder(7days)not good, they need the exercise for both body&jaw, this in turn prevents dying from obesity(prone to)@least alternate live with frozen blood worms,b/bs(alot will not eat food once it hits the ground(unless it wiggles)but leaving that in ensures water pollution, not feeding.Plse change diet&add in small betta pellets to vary diet.
Too much live worms=protein overload=swim bladder.

In addition to the "feed me dance", if he's doing this when you come into the room, and he's flaring his gills, he might be able to see his reflection in something in or near the tank, and he's trying to show the "other fish" that this is his territory.

Bettas should have floating pellets and live/frozen foods. The feeder blocks are mostly Plaster of Paris with flake food in them. He may not be that interested in eating this, and the plaster just adds dissolved chemicals to your/his water.

This is what I call the "feed me dance". :) All of my bettas rush to the front of their tanks and wiggle up and down as soon as they see me. It's perfectly normal.

[edit] You should NOT be using those food pyramids unless it's an emergency. They just dirty the tank. Take it out and feed your betta 4-5 pellets daily. You should also give him bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other treats occasionally.
