if you have plants sooner or later they do produce bugs it's due to too much moisture in the pot, another source could be that you have a leak somewhere and the bugs have the tendency to be draw to a certain area, find the source . You be wasting your money on an Exterminator, after all they are only fruit flies right?

Get rid of fruit and potted plants, the soil is riddled with fly eggs from the little plant flies.

first of all are you sure they are flys?

a friend of mine had these flying things come in the laundry room a certain time of year every year and they were termites or something like that and it was breeding season or something...they were all around that one room for a week or so then gone till next year...

Are they in your sinks? If so, they're probably sewer flies. Call your local pest control and ask what to use. I think it's bleach if I remember correctly. Had them years ago.

Try boric acid, it will kill any bugs. You can get it from the pharmacy. It is NOT safe around children however. It worked for me.
