Who hasn't. When I was a young , Mom caught me in just one too many, but as I got older, I realized that the only real person I was lying to, was myself, so no I don't anymore, except for saying oh, you look great, or that looks good, etc. We are not at all perfect and so sometimes we lie to make up for it, but when you realize you always get caught in a lie, there is no sense to it, not anymore.

Should I lie and say " no." ? I know when I was a kid I was caught in a few. LOL Now that I am older, I try not to lie because I know it will catch up with me, but I do tend to tell little lies... nice dress, there is a santa... you know.. the ones that are normal.

When I was a rebellious teenager, I lied so much, I had to lie to cover up for another lie I had made up. BOY, was that a confusing time, no lie!

YES, we were very poor after Daddy left us. Momma worked two jobs. She worked in the soda shop at the Bowling Alley during the day and there was a Five and Dime next door. I had asked Momma many times for a baby for my Barbie. They were tiny little things I remember seeing lots of them tucked sweetly in a half a walnut shell wrapped in a tiny blanket. Three in a package for only five cents. Momma said we could not afford that we needed shoes and socks and two dresses did not last through a whole school year and mine were wearing thin. Still I wanted my Barbie to have a baby so I went next door and I stole them. I went back to see Momma and get my vanilla coke and the owner came over and asked if I had anything I needed to tell him. I looked him straight in the eyes and said, "no". My Momma took one look at me and said,
"Teresa Lynn what did you do?" The look in my mothers beautiful green eyes broke my heart for I knew that day that I had let her down. I reached in my pocket and I pulled out those babies. My Momma cried. She said I never thought you would lie to me and I swore you would never steal. My punishment was to sweep the sidewalk outside the Five and Dime for 3 months a month for each baby I stole. I never forgot that day or the look in her eyes. Momma has been gone now for over 35 years and I never did get babies for my Barbie but after what I did to my Momma they did not seem so important any more.
Seems if you lie you have to lie again and pretty soon you can't remember where it all started. Honesty may hurt but it is alot easier to remember and it makes it a lot easier to live with yourself!
