I'm glad I live in a country where that kind of stupid nonsense doesn't occur. Killing people because they don't seem to respect a particular piece of clothing is assinine.

Most Muslims are peaceful and don't wish to live under a government such as the Taliban. BTW were the Inquisitions another example of Christians being peaceful?

FROM A MUSLIM:
1.There are many examples of Christians not being peaceful and even usng Christianity to justify clear violations of human rights. I am not talking about the Crusades or the Inquisition.
The Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda forces people to eat , literally , their neighbors, murder, dismember and even rape all in the name of God. The Ku Klux Klan and the World Church of the Creator are two more examples among others. Remember the war in Ireland?
2. I do not agree that these groups , despite their claims, represent true Christianity nor do I accept that terrorists and tyrants represent Islam.
3. There are 1.3 billion or so muslims in the world and there is no way that even 5% of them support this type of foolishness. Any who do are brainwashed by people who are manipulating them and some of their legitimate frustrations to try to justify what is unjustifiable.
4. Since the qur'an clearly bans , and ALL the sayings of Muhammad (pbuh) clearly stand against murder and oppression in all of its shapes and forms the things that angers me and tears at my soul is not your response but the fact that these nutjobs continue to act a fool in the name of my blessed faith.

That is hardly representative of the millions of Muslims out there.
If one Cleric declares something like that, you cannon condemn a whole society!
That would be like assuming every American has the same views as Bush!
Let me argue another point; when have western powers been peaceful? Was the USSR ever peaceful? Suppressing the Baltic states, etc?
Is the US peaceful now? Invading Iraq? Invading Afghanistan? Fighting in Korea?
It would be hypocritical to claim Islamists are warlike when you have a track record like America's.

I see it as face value. Someone trying explain away something as stupid as this will never work. Islam is very mean spirtted towards women.

Those people are like animals. I saw them today "stoning the devil". A zillion people throwing rocks at a stone pillar. They just haven't evolved. The entire region should be walled off.

Well, the radical, 7th-century variety of Islam at any rate. I have this creeping sensation that more modern Muslims would be just as horrified by this as the rest of us.
