the gage only moves when the engine is idle. car heating is only lukewarm. only had this problem since car was serviced

Thermostat Stuck Open, Replace It! Have the Coolant Mixture Checked (Specific Gravity), Should 50-50 Clean Water & Anti-Freeze!
NOTE; Cooling System Check should have been Part of the Service Check!

Make sure the air duct hoses under dash were'nt kicked loose.Sometimes system gets an air pocket in flow of antifreeze and may need to be "burped".

yea its def ur thermostat, i had the same problem when i bought my eclipse, turns out when i pulled out the old thermostat, it fell apart in three peices, haha. once i put the new one it, everything was fine

I think your thermostat is stuck open.
