The Grim Reaper figure can be linked back through mythology to the Greek figure of Thanatos or Death. He was the son of Zeus and worked as an aid to Hades. Basically his task was to guide lost souls to the resting place of the Underworld.
This was not death in the Christian sense, nor was the Underworld a type of Hell. Like the form of Death in the Tarot deck he represents guidance for the soul through unchartered territory. He should be viewed as a helpful guide rather than a figure of fear.
Perhaps next time you dream of him you bare this in mind you will find him less disturbing and discover what he is trying to guide you towards or make you become aware of.

just because it symbolizes death doesn't mean it's in relation to you, or anyone really. it could symbolize the death of anything, be it a job, relationship, or even mindset. Besides that, with so many infulences out there you could have seen it somewhere (maybe on tv) and now since it's in your mind it's appearing in your dreams. How long have you had these dreams? If you've had them over a period of months or years then i understand you being curious about them, but if you've just had them for a few days ignore them. My guess is they'll go away soon.

Some day in the next 100 years or so you will die. Your dreams have nothing to do with when that will happen

It usually symbolises death in the metaphorical sense. It means something is coming to an end. What you need to do is consider the other elements in a dream and work out what it is that is coming, or needs to come to an end.

It depends on how you interpret dreams.
I've heard that dreams of death mean birth and dreams of birth mean death... But in my experience, dreams often highlight our subconcious thoughts -- our fears (your grim reaper, i suppose), our past, and sometimes - though people are constantly arguing about this one - our future.

The meaning of the figure of Death in the Tarot cards signifies transformation, passage, change. There must be stuff changing in your life. Yes, it means death too, but don't fear, it is highly unlikely.
