Hello dear!

Any country being a suerpower would be beneficial only when her people live better!
In our region, regardless of our military strength, people will proceed the same way! So why to risk what we have and try to become superpowers?

Turkey has a huge standing army, but in modern times has never used it against it's neighbors (that's a good thing). The last time they flexed their muscles was with Greece in Cyprus ... no one really won and now Cyprus is split with Greece controling most of the island ... the prosperous side. Turkey controls the poorer side. These little skirmishes with PKK in Iraq are nothing.

Simply being rich in boron is not going to make Turkey a super power.

Improving its economy could. Entry into the EU would help a lot, but there are problems with that. Many countries oppose Turkey's entry because of its record on human rights and fear of mass immigration of Turks seeking economic improvement into their countries. If Turkey could westernize its human rights policies, entry into EU would become a lot easier, the economy would improve and so many Turks would not be so eager to immigrate.

Turkey will never be a super power unless it became larger, less corrupt and more homogeneous
