I have some delinquint medical bills from the last 3 years of cancer treatment. Its not really a huge amount, but I am still unable to work, and barely making it on disability. The hosp sold the debt to a local collection agency. The collection angency keeps calling and wanting me to pay off in full. I dont have that kind of money, so I keep asking to set up a payment plan at 20 per month. That is an amount that I can afford.

However, they keep telling me they wont accept a payment plan of anything less than 75 per month. THey will accept my money ofcourse, but wont set my up on payment plan.

I have heard that that is illegal. Is this true? Or is there someone that can tell me where to find the laws about this?

"I have heard that that is illegal. Is this true?" - It is probably true you heard this. it is not true that it is illegal. They have no obligation to setup payment plans.

Or is there someone that can tell me where to find the laws about this? - You can read the laws here: http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/
