he gave me a C when i had an A going into the final which was 10% of our grade so no way can i go from a C to an A from that. In college is there a certain amount of time to fix the grade before it is official? I am scared because it is really unfair when i worked so hard in that class and he gave me a C.

Relax. We all make mistakes from time to time. Even if there are time limits for changing grades, if the professor acknowledges that this was a mistake, it can be changed. Don't use words like "unfair" when what happened was pretty obviously unintentional. That will only anger people, because you are attacking their integrity. It would have been unfair if he changed the rules against you, but not if he accidentally recorded the grade incorrectly.

Professors can be the biggest jerkholes in the world. CAN be, but aren't necessarily. What you need to do is talk to him, find out what happened on the final, and explain your concerns. If it is his error, the grade can be resubmitted and changed at any time (though this could take several days to show up on your grade report). If he thought you deserved that grade and his mind won't change, then that's that. It's not like high school where you can go to the principal and complain. Professors get away with a lot more.

And like neniaf said, don't just start out accusing him of being unfair!

If you're still at school, set an appointment with your professor ASAP, if you've already left, send a friendly email. Don't get defensive, just ask politely if there might have been some sort of mistake. Your school will almost certainly have a formal process for appealing your grade, but first talk to your professor before worrying about that. The full policy should be in your student handbook (usually available online too).

Email the professor and he will be able to fix it easily. Just don't wait any longer.
