Close the Borders BEFORE It is Too Late?

How many true Americans here agree that the borders should be closed to protect American citizens from another terrorist attack?

How many of you agree that the HONEST way to enter America is through INS and not by jumping the gate?

Do you want to see another 9-11?

It is right for people jump the gate at the border and then work in America (with fake ID's) without having permission from the immigration department?

The United States Department of Transportation is poised to kick the border wide open to trucks from Mexico operating throughout the U.S. This will have a very real effect on all highway users.
The Department Of transportation (DOT) says safety and security programs are in place. This is a joke! There is not enough DOT inspectors here now to handle today's traffic.
Truckers in the United States must hold a valid commercial driver's license with some years of driving history. For the Mexican equivalent, we won't know if these drivers are trained as truckers or terrorists.
United States truckers are required to be drug, and alcohol tested, and to follow hours of service (HOS) regulations for driving time. No such regulations exist in Mexico.
DOT says every truck will be inspected at the border. Not likely. They inspect less than 4% right now. And what will these trucks haul into the US? Could be people, or drugs, or dirty bombs. We won't know.
Why the rush to open the border? The answer is money. The United States Chamber of Commerce believes we need more trucks and cheaper labor. So, safety is compromised, American drivers lose their jobs, and the Mexican drivers will roam our country, haul our domestic freight at will. Doesn't sound like anyone in this country wins.
They're not coming here with there freight to drop, say in New York, and go back empty! They'll pick up freight somewhere here in the US, so they do not have to run back empty. Of course, for the Mexican rates.
And who says they have to go back? They can stay here for as long as they want!
Who is going to check? There's not enough infrastructure in place, to ever control these Mexican trucks once the border is opened.
Then what will these drivers say when they are stopped by DOT? "I didn't know". And that's what these Mexican driver's could say at an accident scene, "I didn't know", because they did not get the mandatory rest required before operating a big rig on our highways!
They say, there's a Professional Truck Driver shortage here, in the USA. NO-WAY!
The only shortage we have here, is Truck driving jobs that pay enough for someone to survive on.
Offer the Professional Truck Driver a fair wage, and they would come out of the woodwork! Many left this industry because of not making a decent living.
Why would any Skilled Professional go to work, just to be broke, always owing money, while trying to raise a family?
Right now, there are definitely more questions than answers. And until the DOT can assure the public that Mexican trucks are just as safe as U.S. trucks, the border must stay closed.

9-11 was an inside job done by americans who made it look like foriegners

You listen to to much propaganda. If people did not HIRE illegals then we would not see it as a problem, They do not have that many fake IDs at all.

But people hire mexican illegals because they work hard and long. Where as Americans whine and don't work. So the border problem is a smoke screen for other issues.

Terrorism is the LEAST of our concerns. The government has already passed laws allowing all of our companies to give our jobs to China, and India, and bring in prople from Mexico and other countries when they can't send the jobs overseas. There is nothing left for the terrorists to harm! America has been sold.

If you don't want the Mexicans here, STOP voting for Republicans. The GOP brought them here so their freinds who own companies can have cheap labor.

The U.S. did NOT win the Civil War, we did NOT win WWI, WWI, etc., we did not even win the Revolutionary War--we have become the British oppressors, we didn't beat them, we replaced them. We are what we used to hate.

The ONLY war we ever won is the one that people think we lost: Vietnam! It is now a free and deomcratic state.

In WWII we just quit and gave most of Europe to the Russian communists. So, if we were never against slavery, never against communism, etc., why does anybody believe we are against terrorism or illegal workers? Fact is the US government loves both of these things--it keeps them in power.

As long as we're all scared of the "terrists" then we'll vote Republican.

Nope, not me. Closing the borders will only lock the people who want opprotunity out of this country. It will get people angry and they will revolt against it in a war, possibly world war III, and we would be the axis powers. We would be doing the wrong thing. The economy would suffer severly also because of the lack of imports. Crime would increase as people would smuggle more goods into the country. Not to mention our Military would suffer because of a lack of outside technology, which ultimately means we would lose the war. Doing that would bring this country to it's knees. We're doing a fine job preventing more attacks. Bush isn't my favorite president, but He seems to be getting the job done. What threat are the Mexicans going to do? All they want is opprotunity and we're the one's offering it. Yes, they're comming in illegally, but they're people too. They want the three UNINALIENABLE rights provided in the Declaration of Independence: Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness. The persuit of happiness is something they don't have in some foriegn lands, which makes them slaves. We promise those three rights and they come here for them. I'm sorry, but closing the borders would be dumber than jumping on a trampoline on a roof, near the edge with two 50lb waights tied across your ankles. it's too risky

Well you are kind of true,but think about it your being kind of negative.And HELLO! the only "borders" that should be protected (that you think) is mexico....what are they going to do and I'm am not even mexican but this is my opinion and of course it's hard for immigrants to handle this because all they want to do is be on free land!......And course Canada is not going to do something because there are a country of Anti-war!

I think our immigration laws are too restrictive and damaging to economic output. Congress should open our borders as wide as possible to attract and keep the world's first-round intellectual draft choices in an age when everyone increasingly has the same innovation tools and the key differentiator is human talent.

The easiest way to get into this country is to buy a ticket to Disney. Bush signed a bill allowing about 15 countries to come here for a limited time and go to Disney. But he's also making believe he's building a fence. But his bro Jeb sold him Florida in the last rip, so now it's payback.

And about the people jumping the gate and working in America.. do you really think that they point employers a gun in the head and force the to give them a job?? Waste of time and money. If terrorists want to get in the country through the border their is no possible way we can make a large enough fence or securtity system to stop them.

I am with you 100% and couldnt agree more.

America is falling apart because of the spineless approach we are taking towards crime, drugs, underage pregnancy, on and on.
