About 2 weeks ago we had a horrible ice storm and lost electricity for 2 days. When our electricity came back on we started back in our daily routines. The day after we got our power back I noticed when I ran the washing machine the toilets would gurgle. Just yesterday both toilets would not flush. I noticed one of the sprinkler heads seems to be damaged a bit also. Who do I call to get it taken care of. My husband called a plumber today and he said they don't do that kind of thing. Thanks for your help.

Ok, your tank is full. As you know in an aerobic system the sprinklers come on to drain the tanks. First thing to check is the circuit breaker inside your breaker box. You may have had a power surge that tripped it. If the breaker is on find the control box. There should be a reset button, usually on the outside of the control box, try that. Can you hear the air pump running? It should be if the power is on and you have used the reset. Next thing is when power wwas off or maybe if there was a surge when it came back on the sprinkler timer settings were lost and it needs to be reset That will be inside the control box. It is safe to open that up to look at controls. You might also find in there a manual switch to turn on the sprinklers. This could be turned on for a little while to drain the holding tank. Beware though that if the air pump was off for more than a day or two it will smell and I would avoid the area the sprinlers spray for at least a couple of days.
To the person who said your question made no sense. Your answer made no sense. In an aerobic system the tank is pumped out at regular intervals. It does not just run into a drain field.

Septic Tank Air Pump

Your question does not make sense. A septic system is what handles the waste water in your house. Even if it wasn't working, the water would drain from your plumbing, you would just get a muddy yard in the spring if your leeching bed was clogged.
If you have well water and your water is not running correctly, than you have a pump or plumbing problem. Is your toilet not flushing because there is no water? Or do you have it clogged? Did the pipes in your house freeze from a lack of heat, if so maybe you have a frozen drain line, or a frozen water line?
