For various reasons (Louisville, KY for example) do you think they will reform country wide? Im fine w/ bans in planes, busses, etc. That's understandable. But every bar, restaurant, doorway, etc. is a little much. If you dont like it, just dont do it. We each had our own sections, which offers equal treatment for everyone, not just them getting their way and screw everyone else. Just because the overpriced establishments lose business to dive bars w/o smoking bans if they dont make them city wide is a horrible reason to ruin it for everyone. Money ruins everything, huh. If you are that health concious you shouldnt be in a bar or eating that crap anyway. And where yould your town be w/o cig taxes, hmm? (and before you go preaching "second hand smoke" how about you actually read the FDA reports and not just the mis-quotes from briefs in your local papers.) Yeay Louisville!!

what do you call it when the wants of the few(the smoke police) is forced on the people regardless of their own wants? if you don't like cigs, go to a non smoking establishment. there's plenty of them. don't force all to become non smoking just because you're on some idiotic crusade to save the world from itself. after they make the world safe from smokers, what's next? they already are trying to force us to eat healthier foods. sometimes i want to eat fatty foods. next they will be trying to ban the sale of meat. then eggs, then milk, then fish. after that, what will be the next crusade? the possibilities are endless and also frightening. can you see where this could lead? we need to stop it before it starts and protect our freedoms before we have nothing left to protect.

I live in Mpls and I was still a smoker when the ban was enacted. While initially opposed to it, I eventually found it agreeable because 1) It forced me to regulate my smoking when at a bar (I didn't want to be going outside every 20 minutes, especially in the winter), and 2) I found I liked coming home from the bar not reeking of smoke.
I haven't smoked for over a year, and I of course find the ban even more agreeable. I also realize how inconsiderate I was! But alas, that's what addiction does to a person.
Not everyone goes to a bar to binge drink or stuff their faces with cheese curds or bacon cheeseburgers. Some people actually like to go to have a glass of wine or a couple beers and socialize without the drunken slobbering. Believe it or not, you can be health- conscious and still enjoy the nightlife!
While the harmful effects of second-hand smoke may be open to debate (and I really think not), what is undisputable is that it is unpleasant. It is a stink. Having once smoked, I understand how it can be perceived differently by a smoker, however.
I do hope the ban stays put here - I feel sorry for the wise and wisened-up patrons in Louisville who once again have to deal with thoughtless smokers!

I quit smoking 11 years ago but I think they're wrong when you can not smoke in an apartment you rent. Around here they have apartments that you have to sign that you will not smoke or you will not let people come to your place and smoke. I agree smoking is bad for you but even where I work they have a no smoking for employees. You can not smoke on the grounds even when you are not working. I support the smokers and I they the companies are wrong!!!!

I'm not a smoker and I hate the smell of it. It isn't healthy but I am perfectly fine with sitting in a non-smoking section. However in places like bars, I think they should create a "smoking room" where smokers alike can smoke without contaminating the rest of the establishment.

OMG......The slightest whiff of ambient smoke makes people violently ill????
Talk about wienies!!!
You see, according to Cocteau's plan I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think; I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I'm the kind of guy likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder - "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?" I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-o all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener".

I agree as adults , If I went into a restaurant, and if I smoked and they ask me not to , I would not have a problem with that. Smoker have re framed for Church, School functions. and a lot of other places, where you would never smoke., and always have. respected that. But it makes you really mad, when a few doesn't like it. they ban all . My husband has never smoked in his life
and that law, really gets him going. But us non smokers, If we can't take the heat then we need to stay out of the kitchen..
You smokers ,may not like us taking our teeth out in public and cleaning them ,But so far you haven;t banned us. LOL

I don't think that's a reform or a step forward.
Have a look at the piles of butts by every freeway offramp. I won't say that every smoker is an irresponsible littering git, but I will say that too many of them are.
Please ask again when cigarettes aren't the number one cause of home fires resulting in fatalities.
