knowing that we are not going to live forever.

Our souls are immortal. We do live forever. We just reincarnate and thus change form. Life is change and death of the physical self is part of that change. Be sad when one lifetime ends and be glad when another lifetime begins.

I do not think it sad at all. Actually some people believe in reincarnation which means life does go on forever. Others believe in an afterlife where their spirits live forever in a perfect "Heaven". And still others believe in a higher plane of existence. It has been very seldom that I have met anyone who thinks that when this life is over, "that's it". And the only way we will ever know for certain is to die. John Donne said it best in his poem "Death Be Not Proud".

"One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die".

If we all lived forever and humans reproduced at the rate they do now then the Earth would soon become too crowded. Therefore, if humans were to live forever we would need to first have colonized other planets - like Mars. Even the moon, though that's not really a planet.

Yeah in a way. But if you also think about this, If your really not enjoying your life now if you not heading in direction you want then why do you want to live forever. We have to take advantage of what time we been given now or why live longer. That's one of the reasons why they say life is a gift. I think immortality should be earn if it were possible not being given to just everyone. ERRROOF!!!

No, It does not make me sad. It give me purpose and a reason to be the person I want to be. If life was indefinate then I might not forge the strong relationships I have, because I would know I had forever to get around to it.

No!

I personally don't want to live forever. I don't want to die anytime soon, but to be here forever... that would get awfully boring after maybe a century or two!

It is a bit, but i am hoping i can come back as a ghost or be reincarnated and have a nose about every 100 years or so, just to see how things have changed x x

Not really. Think how boring it would be to know that life just went on and on - especially as we deteriorate physically. The notion of spending centuries just sitting in a chair, not able to move, not able to do anything for yourself, doesn't thrill me in the least.

That's still a matter of opinion...no doubt your material body will die...rot...wither away...but the soul...when full of love and compassion...goes on forever..."If your good you'll live forever...if your bad...you die when you die...you die when you die...you die when you die."
