2007-12-21 09:22:28 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

(27 + √297) / 9 = 3 + 1/3√33

√(y + 18) = 4 => y + 18 = 4^2 => y = 16 -- 18 = -- 2
verify it
√(y + 18) = √(--2 + 18) = √16 = 4

( 27 + sqrt 297 ) / 9
={ ( 3 ^3 )+ sqrt[ (3) ^2 ( 33)] } / 9
= [( 3 ^3) + 3 sqrt (33)] / 9
= 3 [3^2 + sqrt (33) ] / 9
= [ 9 + sqrt ( 33)] / 3

2 ) sqrt y + 18 = 4
( sqrt y + 18) ^2 = 4 ^2
y + 18 = 16
y = 16 - 18
y = - 2
