a boy 3 years old and a girl 13 months old.

They like the typical things.
I havent gone shopping yet, I'm going tomorrow.
Looking for gifts under $25 each. Before I would spend money on one big gift(for my son), and it seems to get pushed aside because they prefer the smaller gifts.

i'm not buying them clothes, or blankets for christmas.

What are some good non-candy stocking stuffers?

popcorn for my three year old(while the one year old is napping or in her highchair eating her food) who never eats with out my supervision expecially popcorn, i have a friend who's daughter died choking on popcorn thank you,
and a barbie is a perfectly fine toy, you remove the shoes(jewelery head pieces etc) and you put them in a box labled "open in 2009" (she already has one barbie, if she chews off the leg and chokes on the foot, then i guess barbies arent safe....)

Two words - Dollar Stores.

I get my kids a couple of larger, more expensive gifts. Then I load up on bunches of dollar store toys. They're excited about the huge numbers of presents, and I don't have to sell any organs to pay for it.

Our son just turned 3 and our daughter is 6 months old. For our son, we got a huge Geo Trax set (I can't believe I bought it), a board game, the Spider-man Trilogy DVD set, 2 books, Pirates of the Caribbean slippers, a Crest Spider-man Spin Brush, a walking/talking robot ($10 at Target - Kool Toyz) and a few other things. Playdoh is a good gift, as well as Crayola Color Wonder paper and accessories (LOVE that stuff! Doesn't get ANYWHERE but on the paper!!) As for stockings, we stuffed his with a box of fruit snacks (Spider-man - do you see a trend here?:), a box of Swiss Miss hot chocolate, and a jar of Flintstones Vitamins.

As for our daughter - she's really too young to care, so I bought her some things (3 sleepers from Crazy 8, a "Little Sister" shirt, a 6pc set from Gymboree, and a Cupcake blanket) and my husband bought her some things (I won't know what until Christmas morning). I wanted to get her a Cabbage Patch newborn, but now I can't find 'em.

By the way - all of your own ideas are WONDERFUL! You don't need OUR help. :)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and have fun shopping!

a cardboard box, and for the boy a small truck,
my kids had more fun with the boxes than the presents.

little board books, crayons and coloring book (big paper coloring book are extra fun), playdoh, big balls they can play with and kick... maybe a childrens cd with songs, you canbuy books that you can read to them, like a big story book with lots of pictures.
don't bother buying crappy toys (they make a mess, and kids dont play with them too long), buy them something that will develop their senses and that can be quiet and constructive.

You should buy them some of those cute little miniature play-doughs. I know I use to love those when I was younger and they'll probably like them too.
