Bureaucracy continues to grow so governmental power can't be held personal responsible for the actions they take.....The more red tape that is required to get to the bottom of a particular issue or situation the less likely someone will be held responsible for decisions or actions....That is why too much government is not a good thing

The more it grows, the more it gets easier for th the people that run the show to steal the money legally in bureaucracy terms but still illegal in th nature of stealing that money. Besides the harder it is to get to the bottom of things the better it is to thwart internal investigation of may be a fraud going on?

You want specifics, it's hard to say because there are so many different reasons. The biggest stated one is that the government needs to be more compartmentalized so that it can spend more money to help more people. The real reason, though, is that people enjoy the massive amounts of power they get from channeling so much money around. These people manage to convince those from whom they get their money (politicians are notably weak when it comes to throwing money around) that there really is a need for it, so they get as much as they ask for, even if what they want doesn't exist.

self interest, entrenchment of power and greed.

america needs congressional term limits more than we have ever needed anything we have needed in our history.

our congress does everything it does only with the next election in mind - not because it is the right thing to do or the will of the people.

if term limits were in place, this nonsense would change overnight.

but don't look for our petulant, infantile 'leaders' to ever offer such a suggestion...
