Q6700 (2.66 GHz) vs QX6700 (2.66 GHz)
I have a basic understanding of computers but please try to put answers in as plain of terms as possible.

Essentially the SAME performance. Q6700 G0 stepping is just more efficient at 95W TDP. QX6700 B3 stepping runs hotter at 130W TDP.

I still believe Q6600 is best bang for the back. Just spend on a good ASUS, Abit or Gigabyte motherboard plus good cooler then just overclock processor to 2.66 to 3.0gHz level. That would be so easy to attain safely on the Q6600. Q6600 typically overclocks up to 3.6gHz level.
