Huckabee is now one of the frontrunners for the republican side. He will definitely have no problem with the social conservatives as they seem to be really pushing this. But, what about independents and moderate republicans?

Huckabee could have a real chance at winning the general election. If he gets the nod, moderate republicans should support him. If Hillary gets the nomination, most of the independents will vote against her (and for Huckabee).

If you remove the religious stigma with huckabee, he would be standing next to Brownback and Tancredo right now, so Huck is more vulnerable than people think, but ....he is helping too level the playing field in iowa at least and may Help boost Ron Paul to a strong showing....Ron is flying under the radar and all the top tiers are the target.
but, I feel Huckabee will be dropping out before long.....you gotta have money in the end, and the media will put the spot light on someone else here shortly and its Hasta Lavista huckabee campaign.

The problem with the polls are that 40% of people are independent and the polls only represent Republicans and Democrats. Huckabee's problem is that he is so conservative that the independents are going to have a problem voting for him.

Huckabee is trying to pull a GW. Cater to the religious right, use them to try and get elected and then ignore them. The US has tried that kind of leadership the past 8 years, it hasn't worked. Even if Huckabee were to get the Repub nomination, his playing to the religious right would be his downfall in a huge lopsided loss come next November.

Huckabee's past is going to catch up with him quick. He may be surging now, but will be dropping after Christmas.

His Christmas message commercial was probably a smart idea, since it caused the attack dogs of his opponents to temporarily back off, lest they be seen as the Grinches.

The independents will be his achilles heel.

The Republicans will eventually all rally around the only candidate that can give Hillary a run for her money and that is Rudy. He's hardly my favorite, but he's just enough of a lib to pull moderate votes.
That is if he can stay out of the emergency room long enough to campaign

McCain has to much baggage amongst his own party.

Hickabee has reached his peak; his rich opponents will expose him for the illegal-alien loving lying hypocrite that he is. He sickens me and other non-evangelicals by mentioning Jesus or God in every sentence. He would lose in a landslide to the Dimocrat candidate.

His campaing slogan should be: Vote for me, I am a Christian!

He's doing well among the evangelicals and some other Christians. That's where it will end.

He will fade about half way through the primaries.

No, I think he's peaking right now. He has no chance if he makes it to the general election.
